2011

  • Access Bank was awarded a “Big Tick in the community’s Award for excellence 2011” by BITC. A National award for companies who have demonstrated a significant impact in making responsible business an integral part of what they do and are the most recognized endorsement of responsible practice.

  • First Bank to commence issuance of Visa Credit Cards in Nigeria.

2006:

  • Awarded the “Most Improved Bank of the Year” by This Day Newspaper.
  • The first Bank in Nigeria to receive $15 million Convertible Debt Investment from the IFC.
  • Appointed Primary Dealer/Market Maker for Government Bonds by the Debt Management Office (DMO)
  • First African Bank to partner the IFC on the introduction of gender finance under the IFC’s Gender Empower Programme.

2005:

  • Completed seamlessly within 60 days the integration of two Banks acquired via merger by absorption, making the integration the fastest and a reference point within the industry.
  • Netherlands Finance Company (FMO) $15 million Investment in Access Bank listed on the NSE.

2004:

  • Selected as one of the seven Banks to operate the European Investment Bank’s 50 Million Nigerian SME facility.
  • Received the Hewlett Packard Award for the best implementation of a core banking application (Flexcube 6.2) in West Africa. Successful Public Offer raised over N14.5 billion, recording 133% over-subscription.

2003:

  • Recorded =N= 1 billion Profit Before Tax (exceeding the cumulative profit for the prior 12 years).
